Student Body

Virginia Virtual Academy serves a diverse population of students in K-8 grade. It has 400 students. It is free and open to all students that reside in the state of Virginia. Out of district students are also eligible to attend Virginia Virtual Academy but have to pay an out of district registration fee of $500 per student per school year. This fee is not to exceed $1000 in a given school year. Enrollment in Virginia Virtual Academy is not to exceed 10% of the overall Carroll County Public School population.  Its student body includes:
 

Struggling students and advanced learners

     Homeschooled students

       The children of families in the military or those with overseas commitments

     Elite athletes and performers training for competitions or careers   

     Children who are homebound for a variety of reasons

Depending on the child’s IEP, Virginia Virtual Academy tailors the curriculum to meet each child’s need. Below is the information about rights and responsibilities of a parent regarding the education of a child with an IEP:
